CYBEX Gold Line – Libelle
Client: CYBEX
Year: 2020
Role: In-house Lead Packaging Designer at CYBEX (also contributed to creative development and business case)
The Libelle project marked a significant milestone in the evolution of CYBEX Gold’s packaging strategy and the beginning of my journey as a Packaging Developer. As one of the most compact models in the range, it wasn’t just a product refresh from the parent brand, Gb. It also became the pilot for a bold, sustainability-driven transformation. This involved drastically reducing plastic usage, optimizing product size and components, and introducing natural brown corrugated cardboard for point-of-sales products. At a time when using uncoated materials for a premium brand still faced some resistance, this move demonstrated a commitment to environmental responsibility.

By combining uncoated natural corrugated material as the primary material, with intelligent structural elements to enhance usability, minimize the use of tapes, other plastic parts and glue, and simultaneously introducing a redesigned graphic system, the team successfully achieved a visually appealing and eco-conscious design. The redesigned graphic system incorporates modular layouts, intuitive iconography, and refined color coding with carefully placed color accents and a clean, modern layout. This approach ensures global clarity and consistency across various markets.

The success of Libelle not only challenged internal assumptions but also established a new visual and structural standard for the entire CYBEX Gold line. Today, the natural, uncoated corrugated look is widely embraced by the vast FMCG market.
